Getting a bashing from undercover ALA
Cheers everyone else for having my back xD

Doofus it's not undercover when you make it obvious
Besides you actually have amazing taste, i'm just messing around. We may not agree on everything but such is life. Cheers. And uh .. I guess i might check this out later. Great review though.

ALA you might dig this a bit, probably a great album to have a spliff with

Loving the funky vibes in "Cry"
|

Had to look up what Spliff is. I'm only 16 so I haven't had my first sm0k yet.
I'm going to try to jam this and Sunhouse a bit more. Maybe i'm neglecting sunhouse a bit too much, i don't know. The Smiths is just a snoozefest.

ALA why does the narrative of your music discovery have to make it into every thread?
|
| |
Boney that's a bit rude.
IDK, I mean isn't the point of trying varying artists from different genres to see what you like or don't like?
How is it even a "narrative". All I said was that I should rejam Sunhouse lol.
Plus D00f 2.5'd two Smiths albums so i was kind of curious about his reply.

Sorry ALA I meant that a bit sarcastically, was just pointing out that you have a tendency to derail threads into discussion of whatever other albums you're jamming at the time.
I said narrative because any user who spends a fair amount of time here or at least in the same threads as you knows what you're listening to at any given time
|
| |
Fair enough.
Hyped to listen to this though.

No hard feelings man.
Curious to see what you think of this.

Yeah ALA I'm not really a Smiths fan, the Morrissey vocals usually turn me off. They do have some decent songs though
|
| |
Wow D00f. I honestly think Morrissey is one of my favorite vocalists from what i've heard off the first album. I really like the lyricism a lot of the time.
My problem is that it just gets so boring, it's such a long album without enough excitement thrown in. I accidentally listened to their first album's original recordings, before they switched producers, and I liked it a lot more. Had a ghostly 60's production about it.

I was surprised that the two Smiths albums I listened to were very samey, I hear that too
|
| |
I can respect artists staying with a linear genre or subgenre category throughout an album, but there's got to be good enough songwriting to back it up and add some flavor and diversity. Their first album is just so ridiculous in how samey it is.
Back on topic though, this is really impressive so far.

Are you a fan of Elliott Smith? McCombs's stuff has a little bit of that flavour to it sometimes

Finished my first playthrough, giving this a holding 4.5, haven't focused on lyrics or songwriting yet so it could drop but I'm very impressed to say the least. Also I'm just feeling generally positive right now which helps. Definitely an aoty contender.

I'm a newer fan of Elliott Smith. I just started listening a few days ago. My 4.5's for his albums are probably a bit generous, his first album is more like an EP with a few really amazing songs and some really good ones. High 4.0. His second one I just listened to yesterday and I can tell it will grow to a 4.5(i have it at a 4.5 but can't change my rating cause i'm banned).

Medusa's Outhouse reminds me of Ful Stop and Desert Island Disk off A Moon Shaped Pool to be honest.
Really love the chill psychedelic vibe of this album so far.
