Same. The combo of the vox and thin ass production really doesn't do them any favors IMO.

I just wish the production was a bit more raw, it sounds too polished.

so is this worth checking for someone who sort of grew off metalcore a while ago?

It's nothing groundbreaking so I wouldn't bother

their last was better. the cleans are grating.
new Norma Jean single was banging though. probably better than every song on this entire record.
tbh, i don't really care about the whole Christian genre tag, but it is a little redundant seeing as satanic metal or islamic metal aren't a thing. rather, just lyrical topics.
it would be like me calling Periphery parody metal
wait

I checked out a few songs anyway. Its Not my cup of tea - I thought it sounds like an awkward mashup between LA Dispute and Periphery and like a lot of bands in the genre they suffer major delusions of grandeur lol

Not fussed by this album, I think it's average.

The vocals are certianly very ott

I can see how the vocals could come across as over the top, but imo, Garret has the lyrical prowess to back it up. As I said, my only real complaint is that I really wish there was more variety in his range and in the instrumentation.

damn, not listening to this one then!
|

Listening to Nails will tho m/

They sound like Oh, Sleeper/wannabe Underoath with some more djent..not attention worthy. I don't get how so many bands can come out with this same formula and think they're going to be successful..old bands like Zao and Haste the Day could barely even survive long enough.

no verse-chorus-verse song structure? insta-5!!!!!!!!!!!
|
| |
I've seen a lot of people praising this, but I've listened to it a couple of times now and it doesn't really do anything for me. It sounds like pretty run-of-the-mill metalcore to be honest.
|
| |
Is this really any different from the last LP? They're talented enough dudes, and can write a riff here and there, but the really clean pop-metalcore sound still doesn't do it for me like something like Converge or Deadguy would. Plus I think the singer's lyrics tend to get pretty bogged down in how referential and lofty they try to be.
|
| |
Nervosa is actually pretty solid and Cory Brandan's vocals fit better than their clean singer's vocals do.
