Got this on vinyl, I discovered I'm still a Death Angel freak (could I leave the discography unfinished?). One of my biggest problems is the compression, so maybe it can help at least a little bit

How is this compared to Act III, that album broke my mind back in the days (in a good way)

I think it's a far cry from the first three, and honestly I think as a whole it may be the weakest post reunion album after Relentless Retribution. However as I said the first half is really damn tight and quite varied, in a sense it recaptures the old Death Angel a bit.
Here's the best example, I hope they'll do more dynamic stuff like this in the future, it's what made them special (and still does, when they want to): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VNBWgtCTLfw
This is instead a new modern take on the band, but I'd say it works very well too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GVYl_hiD1oQ

Their best since Act 3 and possibly as good.

Idk I'm still conflicted about this one. It's solid and there's some really great moments but the anger is really wearing thin on them. Needs more dynamics, from songwriting (and Father of Lies is a really promising sign of things to come, I hope!) to sound and it should be used to highlight the Death Angel swagger that they partly lost. It's far from the early stuff, don't know how can you guys compare it. It's like a 3.2-3.3 for me

Yeah their very rythmic/funky style from Frolic, Act III and the Organization albums is what in my opinion made them special compared to pretty much every other band. For me Hatred united was pretty outstanding, very rythmic and different from ordinary modern thrash, didn't like it at all at first, but over the time it became my favorite of the album.
Their style since Relentless Retribution is pretty much like every other modern thrash album which is quite sad indeed.
Who knows, maybe they'll drop some anger for some more experimental stuff with the next record.

"'Cause the last couple of albums, we wrote a lot of it on the road, which was cool, and the emotion and the experience of that is in those albums, but I need a different experience for creativity — I don't wanna keep doing it the same way; it's gonna get stale for that. So now I think we can get deeper into the musicality and stuff instead of just purely just getting pissed off and feeling anguish and frustration and wanting to go home or take a rest."
