Great review, my feelings aren't quite as jubilant... this is more of a 4.3 to me. I loved it on first listen, which was not the case for any of my other favourites like Kid A, In Rainbows or OKC. AMSP definitely has a lot of nuance to it, but it is all very pretty and digestible. I never had that fuck-yeah moment of feeling like I solved a puzzle with this one

It just might be their most consistently great album, but none of it ever reaches the lofty heights of How To Disappear Completely, There There, Pyramid Song, Climbing Up The Walls etc etc

It comes very very close, as do about four other songs here. Maybe they need time to fully sink in and feel canon or some stupid shit like that

Ful Stop is up there too
This does take a lot of listens to sink in, I've heard it dozens of times now and still discover new things in each song. One quality that's apparent is how heartfelt and genuine this is, while simultaneously straying into more unexplored territory and still experimenting as only Radiohead can. It's unquestionably them though, they really are very distinctive.

Best? Maybe 2nd best.
I would say OK Computer > this > The Bends > In Rainbows > Kid A > Hail To The Thief

"seeing them compared to the likes of pink floyd has never sat well with me"
It's important to understand the context here. I'm not saying Radiohead is as good as Pink Floyd or in the same category, the point I'm communicating rather clearly (I thought) was that in terms of influence/popularity/longevity, they are both among a select group of "great bands" that as the musical landscape has changed have become rarer. I also mentioned U2 and Nirvana, and in no way do I actually feel that they're on the same level with either of the aforementioned groups.

I have no choice but to agree here. If I had one thing I'd change about this it would be that there would be more layers to discover with repeated listens. But, it is what it is for a reason, and it's still really good.
Regarding Daydreaming and Ful Stop, I would also place them among Radiohead's top 25 songs, especially Daydreaming which for me personally is in the top 10.
And thanks all in general for the kind words about the review, always appreciated!

Album is swell.

I can see why people would find it dull, being as subdued as it is. This album is so sedated and ethereal, like breath on a mirror, rain on a windowpane type thing

sorry dude but there is absolutely no way that radiohead has the same influence or popularity or as of yet longevity of pink floyd
i see what you are saying though but still, i think that has more to do with the fact that the rock genre is seeing less great experimentation and risk taking the past few decades and there isn't a lot of other bands to chose from
radiohead are great in that regard and that is why i appreciate them but the actually quality of their music in general aside from say Kid A does not hold up with some of the classics
