yeah, drum work itself is pretty impressive at times too.

It's one aspect that, regrettably, gets lost a bit in future works. But when I put this on yesterday, I forgot how technical he can be. lol

Yeah the programmed beats on Death Magic and the grungy, blown-out drum sound on Slaves of Fear both have their own appeal, and his playing on those albums complements the sound well, but some of the stuff on this and *especially* Get Color is just unbelievable.
"Nice Girls" in particular has, bar none, the greatest drum production I've ever heard on any song and Ben just goes fucking INSANE on it

Good placement of first comment, tactically deployed as it wouldn't be noticed here? Well I did, and yes, HEALTH is important... Especially their first two releases, you can let it slide and embrace the beer gut after that.

Tbh, first two records seem juvenile in comparison to their newer stuff. This album in particular has the whiff of “cool guy”, arty-farty-what-we’re-doing-is-breaking-boundaries writing. Still a great release, but their structured stuff is far more enjoyable, spesh disco4 which absolutely slaps
