I probably wouldn't touch the final track with a ten foot pole.

I guess I'm a major $ucka for bands that do subtle flourishes with melody and rhythm and the way the strings echoed the pretty piano melody and brough glass eyes full circle really reminded me of something my boys the dessners might do

I've listened to this three times now, and none of the tracks except Burn the Witch and Ful Stop did anything for me.

Then again, I've never really given a shit about any of Radiohead's work except for Kid A and In Rainbows.

says something that that song's been around in some capacity for a couple decades but thom only chose to finally put it on record post his divorce last year

I feel like that's definitely not true, I mean it was originally written as a regular love song over a decade before the divorce

na it's absolutely relevant thom's directly said that he doesn't put a track to record until he feels it has a purpose and him finally choosing to put a twenty something year old song from pablo era on here with lyrics like

"Just don't leave

Don't leave

I'm not living, I'm just killing time"

straight after his divorce is not a coincidence

I like this a lot so far. KoL didn't really do much for me although I think that was like 95% because I'm just not thaaat into radiohead and just didn't really get what they were shooting for. And tbh I always enjoyed the more straightforward Radiohead stuff (OKC, In Rainbows) more than the super experimental stuff (KoL, Kid A).

Sonically i really enjoy the tracks and I think there are a lot more nuances and details on the album than "Burn the Witch" (which is imo the worst song on the LP) led me to believe, but srsly wtf is up with the tracklisting? Is it just me or are they trying forcefully to disrupt the momentum of the album?

Great review, hoping you end up slightly regretting not adding a .5 to the rating though

Saying that I haven't checked your other Radiohead ratings for context - what is the Radiohead high water mark for you Johnny?
