Iluvatar, I think that last comment was way off base. The bass is in fact complicated, not just technically good. And the lyrics are in fact intelligent for a nu-metal band, and are certianly better than the lyrics on Hybrid Theory that you seem to love.

They are still complicated, with all the metaphors and stuff, for example instead of saying "Ed Gein was a serial killer who drenched himself in others blood" Chad talks as if he is Ed Gein and caputres his emotion by saying "If I drench myself in others blood - then am I sick". The bass is complicated. Ryan adds a funk element (the slapping) into an otherwise brutal atmosphere, and his many pops, runs, and his him using his double jointed fingers to do a semi-pop is also very original, and mixed in complicates everything.

Ha ha, all right Iluvatar. Let's agree to disagree on that Hybrid Theory vs. L.D. 50 argument.

Are you kidding? The lyrics are complicated, the bass playing is definately complicated, the drumming is complicated, and the guitar is too. Just because he doesn't play technically amazing stuff doesn't mean it's not complicated
It's funny, I could have sworn I said guitar-wise. And I do believe that if something isn't techinically hard to play, then it's not complicated. That doesn't make it bad, but that doesn't make it complicated either. The vast majority of techniques Tribbet employs are drop-d one-fingered bar chords, albeit often in weird, shifting time signatures. The drummer is great, the Bassist is by far the best in new metal, and the lyrics are kind of crappy to me.

Then it's probably a good thing I was talking to Iluvatar.

Yes, I did. I don't find it good. And the song is obviously about Ed Gein. Chad is putting it in his own perspective, I just don't think he did it well. That's just my opinion, you guys like it, that's cool. This Message Edited On 05.29.06

Ok...Ryan Martinie definetely does complicated stuff on his bass. If this is simple for bass, then almost every bassist in metal sucks. He does some crazy sh*t on this album. Now lyrics, different story. They aren't that impressive but Chad is however a good vocalist. The drums are also somewhat technical as well. There are quite some crazy beats especially for nu-metail standards. This Message Edited On 06.09.06

Or Nothing To Gein, those encase my favorite lyrics from the album.

I just don't think he portrays his thoughts as much as he could. Some of the lyrics on this album are pretty impressive however.

any one of those CD's (especially Flaw's) can easily give this one a run for it's money. Flaw sounds similar to Mudvayne, so that is why i compare. they are both really good

Flaw comes the closest, by far. Chris Volz (Flaw vocalist) is IMO the better singer of the two, but i agree that mudvayne has their own unique sound.
Competition, Stack Flaw's "Payback" against Mudvayne's "Determined"
which is better, (yes mudvaynian you have to listen to both of them). i would go with Flaw, because i like them more

plus, ryan is a better bassist. i first picked my username (seetherrocker, back before i changed it) because i loved tehe overall sound that seether had gotten me attatched to. i can see you point on that
i like TEOATTC. the only album i haven't heard is All Access to All Things. is it any good, compared to other Mudvayne CDs?This Message Edited On 08.22.06

That is a massive review for a TBT, still good though, so votes.
What ever happened to Jom's review of LD50? It was one of the best on this site.

Great album, definately one of the best 5 "nu metal" albums ever, but I disagree with your comments about "Pharmaecopia," which is one of the most complex songs mudvayne has ever done and I think it approaches math metal in a considerable way
