As someone who dislikes Dylan but loves Tallest Man(yes, I know just how little sense that makes), this album is not settling well at all. I can't rate this fairly, so I won't.

Can't get over how good this entire album is. First track is a little bit of a yawner but after that it's nothing but gold.

"I already know a few that will be there: Brand New’s The Devil And God Are Raging Inside Me"

Mew, this reminded of the two joke reviews published few days ago

Great review though, must say I enjoyed it more than the embedded track. I might give it a listen just for the intense praise you gave it.

I think Destroyer took over as my favorite from this. It's blissful.

Drunk and on a Star through Black Flowers is such an amazing stretch

I'll raise you Drunk on a Star through to Water.

The only track I 'can' skip is Singing Saw. Everything else is essential. Initially I wasn't in love with Cut Me Down but now, thanks to my PMP automatically starting the album again when Water finishes, it has morphed into something else.

His lyrics are occasionally cringe-worthy but I tend to find the sound of his voice, and the way it's delivered, overs over the rough.

One of the best records this year, for sure. There's not a weak track on this thing.

Even with the new Nick Cave this is still holding as my #2 AOTY behind Radiohead, and depending on my mood this is even better.

Sowing I really do fail to see what's even remotely special about this album. At best it's just a very good indie folk album. I mean I do quite enjoy it and there are some excellent songs here but that's it.

It's indie folk and it's not boring and whiney, wimpery tryhard cutmyself faux-bonivery type of stuff. So that initiself is special.
