What is wrong with the Deftones? This, just like KNY and pretty much the rest of their albums, is mastered so poorly. Everything just sounds like mush.

I'm only on track 4 but this does certainly have a different feel than a lot of their stuff already. Spacious, sounds recorded live - I'm gladly enjoying the changes so far.
Lotta cool sounds on here - a lot of the via Frank Delgado too. His atmospheric work is only getting better, which is pretty amazing

I was listening to this without remembering which song Jerry Cantrell was on, knew as soon as I heard the guitars in Phantom Bride it was him. Quality playing, one of the album's highlights.

As difficult as it is to quantify such a statement: Chino's vocal melodies on here are more "indie"-ish than they've ever been. I tend to agree with the shoegaze influence being at its heaviest here as well; could be part of the reason.
