there are so many stellar tracks here. clarity, glassy blue, dissonance, we could have been beautiful again, everything and nothing are my early faves

Never heard them do anything like the title track, those drums so awesome in the mix.

yeah can we take a minute to talk about how phenomenal the production is? each track sounds distinctly different, and oftentimes things are blended so well that i can't tell which instrument is doing what. it's an awesomely crafted ambient/shoegaze mixture

Their sprawling post rock songs like We Could Have Been Beautiful Again have always been my favs of theirs. And yes this sounds appropriately lush, vast and spacey.

Clarity, Glassy Blue, the song above, the t/t, We Were So Young, wow. Couldn't have asked for a better Hammock album. I'd even say this is a great place to start with the band.

So what's with all the ridiculous youtube comments on their music? Is it some sort of inside joke or something?

Nice review. I got into these guys with Raising Your Voice ... and just recently got Departure Songs, and I'd have to say they're my favourite post-rock group. Your take on it sounds like they're still hitting all the right notes. Looking forward to listening to it.

And yeah they really do hit pretty much every high note they possibly can here. t/t is maybe in their top bracket of songs

Mmmm I don't know if I'd put this above Oblivion Hymns but it's definitely a great album. Awesome review as usual.

zaruyache: It's on Spotify so I'd assume it's basically everywhere.

oh ok good! I usually just google "[band] [album] stream" and got nothing there or on their facebook so I assumed not, but Spotify to the rescue!
