Album Rating: 3.0
My favorite song on here ("Loyalty") wasn't even written for this album, it was written for the Game of Thrones mixtape. That song and Hate By Design got my hopes up. I thought there was going to be a little more energy throughout the duration of the album. Some of these songs feel really formulaic, even by KsE's standards. I feel like the album could have used a bit more riffage. Not that the guitar work is necessarily bad, I understand they were going for a slower, heavier sound on this one, it just didn't do it for me. It's not what Adam and Joel do best. One other complaint I have is I want some more Times of Grace style vocal harmonies between Jesse and Adam. I know there were a few thrown in there, but I just get the feeling the band does them somewhat begrudgingly.
There are some really catchy choruses on here though and the drumming is probably J-Fole's best performance on any record, Jesse's too for that matter see: "Just Let Go," (one of my favorite songs they've done in years).
