I loved the last album but I kind of agree with most people on this, some songs are kind of boring and generic, I can enjoy some songs and some pieces of other songs but the general feeling is not as good as on Beyond. A 3.5/3 for me probably. I have to spin it twice yet. (I have to say I hate Skyline)

Because they are some of the most upbeat and purely melodic melodeath ever written

Good band that makes good music, albeit a tad unoriginal. Why do you matter again?

Yeah, not a good starting point for this band probably. New World Shadows and Beyond are pretty sweet and genuinely create what can be considered a sound of their own. Redshift is meh but has some nice moments and I haven't heard the rest. Also their music videos are most often embarrassing

metal music vids in general are usually pretty unnecessary. Still really digging this album, though.

You totally should see converge's video for "all we love we leave behind" or chthonic's for "defenders of bu-tik palace"

Actually make that "supreme pain for the tyrant" when it comes to Chthonic. Ever seen a synchronized dance routine in a black metal video? Gorgeous stuff

I agree to an extent that parts of this album are bland and cliche, but it is still a solid melodeath record. Not quite as good as their other releases though. Also why the jab at Insomnium fans? Insomnium is the most consistent melodic death metal band out there.

I wish my username was Dmaxalicioushizz like on ps4, but I'm stuck with this bland shit. Omnium has become one of my favorite all time bands. This album was a little rushed sounding but Frontiers, Majesty and silence, and Foundation are fantastic. That melody in the last third of Foundation is so uplifting. That's why I love this group. They are the most uplifting melodeath around, or at least that I know of. Many of their melodies and arrangements are iconic to me. I was surprised how messy the live clips I've seen are though, and I do hope they are a little more ambitious on the next album. Super fun album overall. Anyone have recs for uplifting melodeath?
