Naah. This is pretty inconsistent. There are some absolute bangers and some very skippable tunes.

Not my thoughts...had a lot more fun with this one tbh not to mention those absolute bangers like Igneous, or Vesuvius II, or Belt Squeezer, or White Stag. Also there s a lot of interpretation value from the vocalist (that maybe sings better on the second one) and a lot more character. This felt to me like them, while on the new one each track reminded me some other band. It is even more chamaleonic but not to their benefict imo.

That's interesting because I have the completely opposite opinion. This album sounds like they're doing too much and trying to sound like too many different things (even though they fundamentally have a unique sound) whereas the new album has much tighter arrangements that makes the album sound like a much more cohesive whole.
Igneous is an absolute banger though.

You are obviously deeper on these fellas. But ahestetically they didn t seemed as much poppy hard rock here. I ll give them both more spins so I can see what they do for me.

Yeah the new songs are definitely more straightforward in structure, but they're still waaay too weird to be considered pop rock. It's just a much more hooky rock n roll album.
But if you can, catch these guys live. They're superb live.

Yes agreeing there. Its weird as fuck nonetheless because they heavy shred with those songs. This one is more blues rock. Maybe I ll give to their latest an inevitable bump and if their talent confirms live, it gotta be awesome.
Btw if you dig the blues rock metal mood check last year's Zapruder if you haven t. . A bit more mathy and post, but caught some vibes with these guys in terms of playfullness.

Oh yeah I've been meaning to. I was hooked on the Azusa album when the Zapruder one came out and never got around to checking it out.

New song is growing on me but I can't help but feel like it's a slight step back from them. I absolutely loved Grimothy. Still stoked for the new EP and that this band is still alive

This album will always be my favorite thing they’ve released. Creativity and talent was just overflowing here, a little raw but they really let it rip. Feels like everything since this has been different levels of conforming to hard rock song structures
Glad they’re back, but I don’t really care for the new singles. Still a big fan of these dudes though

I've yet to hear this but I thoroughly enjoy Crux a lot so maybe I should get onto this.

I enjoyed this quite a bit more than Crux. The interesting thing with these guys is I feel like their best moments are usually when they don’t have any formulaic song structure constraints. This album definitely is full of those moments, while not being overly proggy or anything
Also the riffs on this are just so goddam good lol

Also this album shows how talented they all are. Honestly hard to get a read on how great they are with the following albums imo, kind of a bummer they’ve leaned away from that aspect

Offered Blood or Vesuvius II are tracks that will immediately make that all noticeable
