You'll 5 a Lambchop, just a matter of which one/how many ;D
Maybe hold off on the 5 until you've tried 'I Hope You're Sitting Down' as it's a real grower and their most alt country. That could be your favourite. It's working its magic on me now.

This one is reeeally close to the 5 Doof, really it's only a question of whether "Flick" and "D Scott Parsely" hold it back too much.
I'll give Sitting Down a listen this weekend.

Those are the two weakest here but they're not a problem in terms of flow and they don't harm the overall listening experience at all for me.
'Flick' in particular is actually still a nice enough soothing listen, if you listen to it in isolation it's pretty great, it's just nowhere near a standout.

Pretty much, even more gentle than most alt country, and with a slight lounge feel to things thanks to the piano

yeah I don't listen to this for musical grit, though Wagner's lyrics always have a little bite to them

Whoever this band's pianist is he's an absolute genius.
Really this is pretty far from the generic alt-country sound but it's not really Americana or folk either so alt-country is the best term to describe this. Plus you get Wagner's quirky vocals and lyrics which are pretty far from general country.

'the album is imbued with a rich subtlety thanks in part to the inspired use of found-sounds and field recordings that are expertly deployed to colour around the edges of the sparse arrangements'
That's how I put it in tart speak

The last four songs are a slightly weak finish but I believe the album does enough before then to warrant the 5

Intetesting, after 2 listens that is very similar to how I would rank things, not as sure about the track ratings though.
Soakt is amazing for sure.
What Was He Wearing is an atrocity.
