I think metal evokes more emotion than most other genres, least it does for me

i really havent heard any post metal after around 2010ish that i enjoy as much. Or even metal in general actually...theres a few gems here and there but heavy music's been growing off me steadily aside from the bands i already like/have known

im actually kinda bummed about it

Yeah maybe you just need a break from it.. almost anything would loose its charm when you engage in it everyday for years (which i assume is what you did?).

I listened to metal 24/7 from like 2008-2011 then my interest shifted to other genres (EDM and hip hop mainly) for about the next 2 years, then I actually sort of lost interest in music altogether for about 6 months and wasn't really listening to anything.

Then in 2014 after living with my cousin who is in a pretty serious band and having access to a jam room with almost every type of instrument and seeing a few shows it reignited my passion for music in general and particularly metal. Now I really dont think I couldn't go a day without listening to a few albums.

I guess the Moral of the story is don't try and feign an interest in metal if it's no longer appealing to you - try branching out to other genres (altho I can see you've already got very diverse taste), try picking up an instrument and/or jamming with others and making it part of your life in that regard, or give it a rest and get on with other things in your life and you might find there's void in your life that only heavy music can fill. Or maybe your taste in music has just changed?

Anyway theres my story/ thoughts for what its worth

its funny that you say i may have got tired of metal cause its all i listened to cause its kinda true up until only like 1-2 years ago. I remember randomly deciding to dl some ambient and hip hop albums and that sprung an interest in them pretty fast. I only recently got into more electronic stuff and its pretty sick. My interest in post rock/classic rock/and indie stuff has been pretty consistent. Ive been looking for stuff like krautrock and psych lately. Found Space Invaders and Can so i guess thats a start

I'm yet to really explore the more indie/post rock/ambient side of town but I definitely feel like I'm missing out on tons of great music. I might have a listen to some of your 4.5 and 5's that I havent heard and see how they go.

Parks don't tell anyone but frankly i'm not even sure what the fuck indie is as a music genre

that's to be expected since initially it didn't refer to genre in any capacity, rather the means of distribution (publishing)

Indie seems to be a weird term. Its literal definition is simply short for independent, meaning that the band is not under any label and have complete creative control. And yet, its used as a genre prefix. "Indie" alone isnt a genre but indie pop and indie rock are. And whats odd is that the majority of people will be able to distinctly tell what is considered "indie rock" despite its literal meaning being a rock band with no label (and that is VERY general). It's pretty silly

I should probably stop piss farting around and give this a 5. Has anyone had any luck finding a torrent with both disks merged together? Its so much more effective that way but frankly i can never be fucked playing both through different music players

Just finished listening to both disks simultaneously for the first time in ages, its almost too much to handle. I think its been enough years/listens that I can say safely say this is a 5.

5est 5 of all 5s

And the merged version downloads are a give and take, on one hand it sounds better cause its combined like it supposed to be (absent/beta benefits the most from this) but on the other it sounds a little cluttered cause its supposed to be played on two separate stereos and not one.
