He timed it perfectly. Leave everyone wondering what the fuck the lyrics mean for a few days, silently leave and let them go back to the album to realise what it really means. A work of true genius that only Bowie could pull off.

"I received an email from him seven days ago. It was as funny as always, and as surreal, looping through word games and allusions and all the usual stuff we did. It ended with this sentence: 'Thank you for our good times, brian. they will never rot'. And it was signed 'Dawn'.

I realise now he was saying goodbye."

Fuck me.

It dawned on me this morning that Lazarus was about him dying and his legacy... good game Bowie.

I honestly can't imagine what this means to someone who has regularly listened to Bowie for years; Blackstar was my first full Bowie album I listened to, only a few days ago, and the sheer weight of it all is still hitting me. That Eno article... ;-;

It's soul crushing and a the same time completely genius that he would release this album with so many hints to what was about to happen. I'm very upset but also glad he gave us one last masterpiece. Now do yourself a favour and listen to some of his classics.

You could pretty much start on any of his albums from '70-'80, Snake.

If you like weird experimental, coke and milk fueled tunes try Station To Station

If you like balls to the wall fun glam rock go for Ziggy Stardust

If you want to hear the death of the 70s check out Scary Monsters

If none of these appeal to you go for the Berlin Trilogy

Quality write up. I've had this in the queue since it released, but it's definitely jumped to the top. Also waiting to get home from work to jam this because it will likely bring some reel feels.
