Håvard Jørgensen who cowrote this and the other two albums in the Ulver trilogy is currently recording an acoustic folk album in a similar vein of Kveldssanger. Definitely looking forward to it.

That's great to hear, I've wondered what the other band members from this era of the band have been up to. More music like this can only mean great things.

i can see a 3 for this pretty easily. it's understandably amateur, they're what, 16-17 during this? hoyfjeldsbilde is gorgeous but most other tracks don't really stand up to a lot of neofolk that has since come out, even if this was a heavy influence on those albums
honestly i think a 4.5 is more suspect than a three!

ok, all 4 gjallarhorn albums, my favorite is runarop;
woodfall by musk ox, their second lp, i haven't heard the first one;
uthuling hyl by osi and the jupiter;
gap var ginnunga and yggdrasil by wardruna, i haven't checked the third LP but those two are amazing;
both LPs by vali: forlatt and skoglandskap;
vergessene pfade by neun welten;
palingenesis by nebelung;
hugsja by ivar bjoernson & einar selvik, just came out;
dauthra dura by forndom;
spring songs by edeih;
and.. of course.. the greatest... ever... ROCKHILL by BELTAINE

Vali, Musk Ox, and those you mentioned with the bandcamp links I'm familiar with, really great stuff. I'll check some of the others, I'm a sucker for mysterious nature/pagan themed neofolk.

i'd bust if you reviewed rockhill. that album isn't mysterious dark forested nordic neofolk like most of the others in the style, though, it's more energetic celtic (their name is beltaine even) and they do cover that traditional classic Foggy Dew.. it's such a kickass, fun album. mostly instrumental. lots of racing violins, lots of charisma and charm
needs more love anyway
