yup reporting from my retirement community at the decaying old age of 21
|

Hey don't report me I was just joking! 21 is indeed an inadequate age for listening to U2. I thought they were the cringiest band ever until 27, when I realized they're kinda mature and neat.

lol yea not really a band id throw on every day, but i do from time to time. i did actually listen to them a lot like two years ago after not jamming them for a while, and all the stuff i dug the most from them (this, war, boy, joshua, achtung) holds up pretty well which i was stoked about since they were a giant part of my childhood
not rlly a band that sequenced their albums that well most of the time admittedly lol classic case of "lets chuck all the singles at the front of the album and leave all the experimental cuts in b side hell" but in turn i think that sparked me constantly making alternate versions of tracklists in order to find homes for all the rad b sides bands make throughout the years

I’m 27 now and The Beatles and U2 were the first bands I was introduced to and actively listened to when I was like 6, so to put it mildly they’re an important band to me. Having said that I find most of their stuff from the past 25-30 years to be not much better than decent, with some exceptions. Like onion said, they have lots of great b-sides that could be combined with the better songs in their 21st century period for really great albums.
Btw it was over 5 years ago but to clarify I meant the double album Stadium Arcadium on the previous page, not Californication which isn’t a double album.

Easily the most underrated U2 album, was my favourite growing up.

wish i could hit this with like a 4.8. weird album in the sense that i love all of its material but the back half has always flown a little bit wonky to me. also feel like this coulda benefitted from bass trap (which is a better instrumental than 4th of july imo) and three sunrises chucked on it
but it also has a good chunk of my favorite songs ever and side a flows immaculately

jamming the deluxe songs off this a lot recently. wish disappearing act was finished back in 84. bono's newer vox still sound good over it but that instrumental is spectacular. coulda been a really special song were it finished in its time
