ok album is decent but kind of fizzles out towards the end
chasing cars is sex though that gets this a 3.5 instead of a 3

I believe this is a great album.
Review. egh.
Snow Patrol gives their on resonance.
I think it's nice.
Open Eyes is probably one of the best and easy listening albums I think that I like to listen too.
Final Straw was amazing too.

Agreed
Alsom despite what other peoplpe say, I love Set The Fire...
I do like Open Your Eyes as well, although not as much as other people. It just takes too long to get to the climax

Make This Go On Forever is the best song hands down, but the album as a whole is great. Too bad the vocals don't really vary, and while they hit the tender moments great, there are at least two songs where there should have been a change.

It's possible. And I kid you not.

So this is what I think the album represents lyrically. I think it's a masterpiece.
You're All I Have - naivety. Note the line "There is a darkness deep in you, a frightening magic I cling to": it becomes important later.
Hands Open - haven't figured out where this fits.
Chasing Cars - a pure love song, but note 'forget the world'. It's the start of ignoring everything around them, and the world is addressed as a distraction.
Shut Your Eyes - a celebration of self-delusion, drifting away to a different place
It's Beginning To Get To Me - the breakdown, the part where it starts to become apparent that ignoring flaws means ignoring each other
You Could Be Happy - NOT a break-up song, just a separation song, and it's important because it's about not being able to see the other person when they're happy, and how hard that can be
Make This Go On Forever - narrator realises that there's something wrong. Key line: "Please just save me from this darkness."
Set The Fire To The Third Bar - the distance is metaphorical, not literal. They're miles apart.
Headlights On Dark Roads - probably the most blatant song on the album, it's about wanting to see the danger in front of you, and jumping into the unknown
Open Your Eyes - a plea to appreciate and embrace the dark side of things - the 'darkness deep in you' from the first song. "Walk from this dark room for the last time."
The Finish Line - "the skies are dark, they're dark but they're clear." it's all broken but they can start again.
In My Arms sucks and is a bonus track.
END OF ESSAY

wasn't a bad album, but it was kind of slow. my favorite part is the beginning of you could be happy. the xylophone or whatever it is

Whole album is fairly deep lyrically, interconnectiveness through the songs... LIKE AVATAR omg,
Cameron stole from pocahontas and Snow Patrol

hahaha, the bastard.
I don't know why, but I used to think everything after Make This Go On Forever was post-breakup lyrically, but that's not the case at all really. Knott probably got it more right.
