Came for the concept, stayed for the music. Just wished I could understand what they were singing, and the dialog parts.

^This. This could very well be their best work to date. Also, the artwork is stunning and suits the music perfectly.

My expectations were so high for this album and it did not disappoint. It's definitely on par if not better than Pirut, but it's too soon to make that call. I'm glad they made it one song, because just like Pirut and Kuu, it's meant to be listened to as a whole. Sorni Nai proves that Kauan is on the top of their game when it comes to weaving several parts into one cohesive musical journey.

band is so damn great. can't decide if I like this or pirut better, but I'm very intrigued by the concept behind this one. was reading a few articles about the incident last night, such a chilling story

@whispered4tw I agree. I know it sounds selfish of me to assume that every artist is going to write lyrics in English but I feel left out of some of the emotional weight when I can't understand what they are saying. But the music is epic. I'm so glad this was featured.

tbh i think this is the record's biggest downfall and why i think pirut edges it - pirut's narrative and story was pretty fluid, i didn't feel like i was missing out by not knowing about the backstory and narrative direction. i just got caught up in the excellent songwriting and atmosphere.

on this one, i honestly feel like i'm missing out by not being able to understand the lyrics and the narrative direction. it seems to be the entire backbone of the structure of the record and i'm sad i can't understand it better.

it's still an excellent album but i can't help but feel i could have enjoyed it more due to missing out on the narrative and story.

Yeah, I really wish that I could've interpreted the lyrical theme as well. If these guys are half as good at writing lyrics as they are at writing songs, then I'm sure the lyrics are superb.

I disagree. This record is about a mystery, what really took place will never be known. I think Kauan's goal here is to give the listener the chance to fill in the blanks of the story with their own thoughts, using the music as simply a guide or a way to to jump-start the imagination. I imagine the lyrics are simply setting the stage not walking us down the path. The base is simple enough: nine people died in very strange fashion by running off in the middle of the night in a snowstorm. What happened? Kauan will let you guess. I don't think the lyrics really have much weight in driving the narrative.

Perhaps Magnus can help with a bit of translation as Estonian is a Finnic language. There are also samples in Russian.

I really don't mind not understanding the lyrics at all. The complete mystery of the incident is what makes it so intriguing in the first place, and the atmosphere here is strong enough to tell the story all on its own. What's really cool is I don't get the exact same visuals every time I hear this so the story is different each time
