This is definitely a lot better than the aggregate at the moment albeit disappointing

I really enjoy this record now, took me awhile.

I think "enjoy" is a key word. This LP can definitely enjoyed, just like most harmless pop-punk can be. But gee, they're capable of better.

That triple threat gig would be awesome Atari. SC are the only band on that bill that I haven't seen live, so I can't predict if they'll win you over or not. As I said earlier - & gameofmetal also stated - 'The Finer Things' wasn't in any way innovative, but it did what it set out to do so well.
yeah I'm looking forward to it. you blew it! is playing as well so actually 4 bands but I haven't listened to them before. and I don't have anything against SC, their music has just never managed to excite me like it does for many fans of the genre. the energy is there, just never resonates with me much for whatever reason. I'll definitely keep you posted after the show and let you know if they managed to win me over or not ;)

Good stuff. I want a band-by-band rating out of 10.

This is straight up little kid shit from what I've heard. Like a painfully average middle school version of Firework's second record.

Might not want to check this out now

these guys definitely grew on me a good deal after seeing them live Friday night. I had the finer things stuck in my head all weekend.
was honestly expecting the wonder years to dominate the show but state champs and motion city soundtrack both were both pretty excellent live. state champs just got the crowd going (lots of energy), and motion city soundtrack opened with a star wars theme! all in all very enjoyable concert. got a wonder years t-shirt with the tour dates on it for a souvenir since no good bands ever come to my town lol.

Great to heard you had a good time Atari... & that all bands impressed.
I've seen The Wonder Years live before & I probably could have told you they wouldn't dominate. On record, their lyrics are just so integral to their overall package. Quieter bands can place the necessary importance on those lyrics in a live setting... But when you have 5 other guys beating the crap out of their instruments, well, there's a lot of noise behind/over Soupy.

yeah I know what you mean haha. the venue in my town is kinda shitty too so it doesn't capture sound that well. honestly my biggest take away from the concert was that state champs are better than I ever gave them credit for. still not a fan of this album, but the finer things has grown on me tremendously.

They had potential in Finer Things to be the next pop-punk giant, but this is really boring on the second listen. Barely got through it. I guess since Fireworks went on hiatus, no one can even touch the quality of Wonder Years in this genre.

I've seen TWY enough times that one show is in my least-impacting 5 shows I've ever been to and one is probably in the top 3. Definitely depends on the day, the crowd, the atmosphere, etc

Well summed up.
"They had potential in Finer Things to be the next pop-punk giant"
Huge call, but I 99% agree.
Interesting CoNut. Different venues, settings or anything that else that would have such a significant impact?

This sounds like a slicker New Found Glory. It's....good, I guess, and I see the mainstream appeal for sure. It's not my cup of tea, but I can see why they get a lot of hype. Definitely a huge cut above the other bands that have blown up in this genre the last few years (Real Friends, Neck Deep, etc)

If you like this to some extent Steve, then check out their debut (if you have not yet done so).

I actually prefer this to the finer things, surprising.
The chorus to Secrets is damn great.
