Album blows, review blows.

The vocals are actually quite well executed but the instrumentation is so damn boring.

I agree In Waves is great regardless.

I never understood the hate for that album.

Yea I can see it was when they started going toward this lame direction but it had everything I like about the band and was very mature.

At least there are three great Trivium albums!

Ascendancy > Shogun > Ember To Inferno > In Waves > Silence in the Snow > Vengeance Falls > The Crusade

Ascendancy will always be my #1 because that album made me get into metal

Ascendancy was actually pretty tight. Only worthwhile thing they've done imo

I've always felt very unenthusiastic about this band. They've had a few good jams though.

^[2], Every album they've done, they have bonus tracks that are way better than their filler tracks.

I've never understood the infatuation with Shogun's vocal style. Half of it sounds like a decent James Hetfield ripoff, and the other half is one of the worst harsh vocal performances I've ever heard. With that being said, it's still a very enjoyable album, and Trivium's best to date.

"bonus tracks are actually pretty good." [3] Keeping up with the Trivium tradition, it seems. Definitely gonna pick up the Special Edition. Darkness of My Mind is great.

It took them 2 years to write all these kinda forgettable riffs?

It just ain't heavy enough for me, guitar wise. I want to hear something like Inception of the End or Black

Strange that the band that invented thrash released this commercial "metal" album
