Can't stand Atlas for the life of me, nor do I understand the hate that Deep Blue gets. This is boring to me but it's better than Atlas imo. And yeah I don't know if they'll ever drop something as good as Horizons/KWAS either.

Since I've been shitting on this I might as well give credit where credit is due. These guys really switched up their sound and even if I think it's for the worse I still can respect that. And Sound of Violence is a banger too.

Atlas and Horizons are both the best Parkway albums.
This aint bad though. Cheesy, yes, but better than Deep Blue at least.

Killing With A Smile is their best by far.

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of the pacing on Deep Blue and their shift in writing style.

The production, guitars especially, really sucks. Very muddy guitar tone, possibly due in part to them tuning lower. I think they scaled down the lead work too and there are a lot more unremarkable songs than their other albums at the time

Am I the only one that gets this huge Amorphis vibe from 'a Deathless song'?
btw, it seems a lot of formerly core bands decided to see if their singers could be more 'palatable' to broader tastes. BMTH managed to get by using the keyboardist decent range and a lot of studio-recorded shenanigans for live shows, OM&M relegated their frontman to the barking second voice in choruses and... ehm, Winston tried to go the 'harsh'-soft spoken bit that just sounds fucking hilarious. Dudes, never do it again please ok?
this is 2.5/3 material though, rev was a lil bit too harsh but I see where it comes from. A lot of songs absolutely suck and I'd rather not ear again

I thought this was pretty damn good. Then again, having met these guys in person, I'm undoubtedly biased.

They're cool dudes and all, I've seen them live 3 times but I mean, if the quality is lacking, it's lacking

I can definitely see why people would be disappointed, they really experimented with this one and that's always risky. All of the tracks had enjoyable moments for me, but I certainly didn't find the album consistent like Atlas was. Might drop my rating but it's still very solid.
