For me it’s the mood of those songs as much as anything, but I do dig slowcore to begin with, I like the fact stuff on that album becomes mantra-like

I do highly rate a lot of albums that people criticise as ‘too much of the one thing’ - I respect the consistent style

Down is an absolutely fantastic song, as is about 1/3 of Curtain

yeah i tend to prefer variety (god damn adhd brain!) but i can also get into a particular style. slowcore is a bit challenging, for me. their early albums do have interesting ideas, gorgrous melodies, solid atmosphere on some tracks, and then others are just minimal to the point they're just background noise at best -- again looking at 'laugh' from curtain and other songs like it.

" about 1/3 of Curtain"

this tracks. anon, over the ocean, coattails, and do you know how to waltz are the only ones i rly like and they're all superb

Sometimes it scares me to death

Sometimes it takes all my breath

Talkin talkin and pleading all night

There must be some way to reach the other side.

possibly the most ‘bookends band’ of all time but I’m missing much of the middle, as their discog is vast

to go backwards from Double Negative (i.e. here) or forwards from the first 5 (leaning towards the latter).
