I would call LoG mainstream, but radio friendly? not in the slightest

album's pretty good, don't get in a LoG mood too often tho so maybe that's why I'm not too hyped

Great review, much better than the one featured for this album as of this writing. I'll have to give the album a listen, though I don't expect much progression from Lamb of God's 'sound.'

lamb of god hits a sweet spot between comfort music and brutal riffs, its hard to describe but i get enjoyment out of almost anything they do even if it isn't particularly amazing (sans AtPB)

That's how I feel about a lot of modern metal albums, most that I listen to are enjoyable but nothing groundbreaking. Also Ashes is about as good as Palaces.

yea most metal nowadays is v v streamlined, which is good cause it means a lot more people can get into it more easily now but it also means there's less risk-taking and experimentation

Steel Panther? Radio-metal? Um...okay. Have you ever listened to literally any of their lyrics? Also, they're a parody band, so that's a really weird way to categorize them.

But yeah, the first half of this album is some of my favorite stuff they've ever done. Last half of the album is still awesome, but I wish they kept the creativity up a bit more for the latter half.

Just picked this up today. Sounds pretty solid so far. Glad they survived the manslaughter trial to still put new material out.

Will be seeing them with Megadeth in Dublin later this year.

"Embers" is the best song I've heard so far this year. Moreno's contribution is perfect.

Cool. This is also their best record in a decade. It might be their opus for me after some time.

This gets boring after a few songs ..kinda like the rest of their discography. It has few songs like Embers, Overlord and Torches that make it at little interesting at least.

Lamb is a band that really pays off for you if you're doing things listening to them. Yard work, running, driving, you name it. Their music isn't all that effective just sitting and analyzing it.
