As someone who hated their last album, would I enjoy this? Used to be a huge fan of this band...

I think this album is different enough from their last to rekindle your love for the band. While we're throwing out our favorite tracks, Untitled III is a winner for me.

Think of a record that sounds like it would have come right after ADOM. This is it.

One of their best, but I miss the long songs. There really aren't any songs on here that warrant a skip. Also a few weeks ago when I saw them live they played the whole album and it was crushing. I wished they would have played a few off ADOM at least but hearing this album for the first time was awesome in a live setting.

Someone should transcribe the lyrics in spite of the artists' wish so I can be lazy and not have to :P The live vid that heavyblogisheavy put up is mixed so his words are easier to pick out.

varied songwriting :v
like, every track on that album felt distinctly different whereas this one just kind of blurs. determinism was way more vibrant

Yea I do consider this a bit of a lesser ADOM, but still an awesome album.

'the band slows down a bit to let the listener take it all in a bit.'
^ That sentence reads funny, but the review is spot-on. This album took me by surprise. I've been enjoying it since it was released. V & VI are my favorite, I think.

Like you said, nothing new but still enjoyable. Just good to see them trying new things here and there.

I also think Wake/Lift is the best. Red in Tooth and Claw is their best song. Not even close.

That album cover is a lot of things south of pretty.

Not sure if I'd go as far as to say this is my favorite Rosetta album - Determinism is pretty damn hard to beat - but I'm definitely more excited about this band right now than I have ever been before. Going in the more space rockish direction was definitely the right decision for these guys, they've capitalized on what initially made them unique in the first place.
The only thing keeping this from being a 4.5 is honestly that it's too short, and while the interludes are nice sounding, they don't quite have the impact that the "Untitled" tracks have.
Saw Rosetta open for Dillinger in Philly a couple months ago and they killed it. They were up first, and when they stopped the crowd actually got SMALLER for the next band. They're definitely at the top of their game right now.
