Album is far from terrible. One Big Holiday is still one of my favorite jam songs.

Everything is a 2.5 or 3 for me this year.

Maybe you're bored of mainstream indie/alt. rock now like this or Modest Mouse and only liking Godspeed and T Swift

Well I agree I've been overexposed to mainstream alt/indie over the last three years or so, probably why it takes so much more for me to want to rate stuff a 4 or higher nowadays. I've really only heard 4 albums I'd consider top-notch this year, and that's the new ones from The Decemberists (4), Father John Misty (4), GY!BE (4), and Sufjan Stevens (4.5). Everything else has been average, in that aforementioned 2.5-3 area. I mean I didn't really start to hear any good stuff until June last year, so maybe I'm just destined to repeat last year's timing. If not, this could be one long/boring year.

My mainstream rock AOTY from what I've heard so far would be this, Strangers to Ourselves by Modest Mouse, and Hand. Cannot. Erase. by Steven Wilson if that counts. In Times by Enslaved is my favorite overall though

Lord Huron's new record has really rubbed off on me.

"no doubt, its a shame they never figured out how to bring that excitement into the studio"
I think Z is great. It's their only album with no filler. or it still moves.

"I'd describe this album as Dr. Dog singing on an electronically enhanced Fleet Foxes"

That's actually a pretty brilliant way of saying it.

It Still Moves and Z are by far their best. If anything this reminds me of At Dawn, but more consistent and with less filler.

Did anyone else just wake up one morning and find this twice as beautiful as before? This was a pretty average record in my mind a week ago, but for some reason now everything is clicking. Somewhere between a 3-3.5 for me now.

This is pretty great, although the last track is kind of a snooze fest.
