Ah yes, I forgot I'd talked to you about Townsend before! That is exactly why I love them, they write really catchy atmospheric metal. And I agree that micic worships townsend, I have never heard him mention him as an influence but it's so obvious since Dev has such a unique songwriting style and David's is so similar. He is still distinct enough to be really enjoyable though, instead of sounding like a tribute band. Really inventive musician

I think he chose an amazing musician to copy, not only because Dev is a living god but also because his style is so diverse and expansive there are so many avenues to explore in that songwriting vein

Yea, the second album is very different though. He got away from djent and into lo fi, indie stuff. Pretty cool with his guitar chops

I can see why he got away from this sound, but at the same time this is still a super innovative metal album to me. the rhythm and phrasing is insane, but the songwriting is also super compelling which isn't something I've heard from many others besides maybe some Micic songs.
