This was a great album. Of course it's not as good as Storm of the Lights Bane, but what is? That cd is the greatest black metal cd ever made. The only other albums that can compete with that is In the Nightside Eclipse and Enthroned Darkness Triumphant, just my opinion. I hate it that Jon is no longer with us. The man was a genius for sure, insane... but a genius none the less. Anyways, this cd was definitely one that had to grow on me but I love it. I have the live dvd also and that is badass as well. Although Dissection is forever gone, Naglfar is there to take their place now.

I can think of at least 5 albums that are better than the ones you mentioned.

Good for you, thats why I said that it was my opinion. There are lots of classic black metal cds, but In the Nightside Eclipse and Enthroned Darkness Triumphant are 2 that are important to me.

^^^^^

IMO Naglfar and Windir (even Catamenia at a less extend) can be considered spiritual cousins of Dissection.

I like them all.

good review, very generic album, a dissapointment, especially coming from the band that gave us storm of the lights bane

Yeah this album's got like three or four songs that are flat out amazing. Then the rest ranges from average to boring.

Try not to compare it to the band's early album. Maybe once you stop doing that, like I did, you'll be able to appreciate this album a little more.

Just go in order. The Somberlain, Storm of the Light's Bane, then this.

first 3 songs of this album were so boring but black dragon and dark mother divine have picked it up a bit, bit dissappointing so far despite knowing it probably wouldnt live up to somberlain and STLB

Jesus, not a single person on here who is talking negative has said anything convincing. Granted, I haven't really gotten into the older stuff.. I find myself just flipping back to this cd instead.

But I guess it'd be hard to shake me from my attachment to this cd if we fundamentally prize two different things...

Yeah this album is pretty awesome. People just need to stop comparing it to the first 2 albums because they're not even the same genre.
