Nah wizard Ive listened to some of his other albums, I believe I am missing one or two though. I thought I made it clear that this isn't ordinary BM but it certainly still falls within that genre. I genuinely don't know what most of the other reviews have said so I didn't just copy and paste their opinions into this as my own. It isn't a bad thing that I share some opinions with others is it?

This review summarized was excellent. This crosses way more than BM. This reminds me in ways of Peste Noire though.

So far on my 3rd listen favorite track is still Wicked Fields of Calm. Still a great album. Listening through 2 more times before I rate.

I really don't know that I can truly say anything to prove otherwise, past just saying I didn't. I really have no idea why the similarities are there, I didn't do much reading on other reviews of this. The only one I'd even seen before I wrote mine up was the other review here on sputnik, and I wrote mine several days later. It really is just my genuine opinion of the record. I suppose you can just take my word for it or don't.

What OvDeath said Gameofmetal.

Fair enough but I feel this is going to turn into the new bandwagon jumper. "Oh, I've been a fan all these years even though I know nothing of his past music and I used to chant along that he was second rate bm". Why all of a sudden is he getting his due credit now? He's always been this fresh and innovative.

Honestly, I don't see anything glaringly wrong with this review. I think he does a great job describing the music and is also able to give the reader a little context as to why it is the way it is. I think you two may be reading a little too much into the review, though I can't blame you for that. Ov, you continue saying that needs to expand on his points, but I don't know how much more he could do that. He wrote a short and succinct review that allowed readers to get a strong idea of what works on this album .

I'm pretty new to Wrest's material myself, but after giving each of his LPs a couple of lessons I can say the guy is always changing up his style. It just so happened Scar Sighted was that perfect mix distrubing, originality and overall sucessful experimentation into other forays of metal. This isnt a straight up black metal release but rather a collection of harsh and disturbing music that spans across a variety of extreme music. I can definitely see this being one of my favorite records by the end of the year.

I equally appreciate the support from Jac and crypt as well as the criticism from Wiz and Ov for the record. I'm pretty happy with my work here, but I wouldn't deny feedback just for that. Do you guys have any more specific instances that you thought needed work?

"This work czeching?"

look at the average

the short answer is yes, haha

Really after reading over it, this just a short and consice review of the album. You focus a bit much on Wrest reputation in the first and final paragraphs and you could expand on the experimentation done by Wrest a little more but other than that its a pretty solid review. Props man.

Unfortunately it happens a lot. There isn't anything you can do about that. It's a shame, though. It's a nice review, I think sometimes people are too over analytical and begin to see things that aren't really there or just pick at things they don't agree with and tell you they shouldn't really be there. A lot of what you say may seem similar because this album is getting a lot of acclaim, there's only so many ways people can express that acclaim. And hey, sometimes opinions are the same.

I've known of Leviathan for many years now, since it was my best friend's favorite band since the beginning of high school. I always respected the music (especially Tentacles, that shit is some of the most gruesome albums ever) and enjoyed some of it (especially Massive Conspiracy), but this is the first album that really hit me. probably because of strong death metal influences, and a bit "lighter" atmosphere (yes this is still some twisted and dense shit, but his past albums are even more so). like emester said "It just so happened Scar Sighted was that perfect mix distrubing, originality and overall sucessful experimentation into other forays of metal."

every album he made is pretty different from the one before it, and this one imo is the most accessible one, so I kinda understand all the people suddenly "jumping on the bandwagon". plus there was really a lot of hype for this on the web so yea. I don't see it as a bad thing, but it is weird so many people haven't heard his music by now

Serious early contender for AOTY this. I definitely need to check out his back catalogue judging by some of the comments here.

Yes, you do. I'm surprised there's not more talk of this album around these parts. But, alas, this place isn't as metal as it used to be.

Not sure what sort of timeframe you're referring to, but I've only properly been on here about 9 months and I think even I've seen a change in that short space.
