PT are not prog metal, but their latest work is heavier than everythig else SW has done.

"PT are not prog metal, but their latest work is heavier than everythig else SW has done."
In Absentia onwards was basically prog metal mixed in with various other styles tbh

Accurate enough. I think In Absentia and FOABP are the closest they've been to metal. Deadwing had some hard rock parts, but not truly metal, while The Incident had no nerve whatsoever.

pt has never been metal lol. they've had some metal riffs and stuff (esp on in absentia and foabp) but they've always been essentially anything but metal

I know, that's what I said. These two albums are *the closest* they've been to metal, but not purely.

I've always considered PT a psychedelic band at heart. They have some Prog in them of course but at heart that's what they are to me if we're talking one genre.

Post-Lightbulb Sun has been more about prog than psychedelia.
Anyway I've read a really great review just destroying this disc musically - in which the reviewer takes each track, sees a lot of influence from neo prog (which according to him, SW 'detests'), and says that the only moments of glory of the disc are due to a sole genius, whose initials are not SW.. but GG.
Thoughts?

At heart they've always been a psychedelic/progressive band, they just dabbled in metal for In Absentia and FOABP.

Lightbulb Sun and Stupid Dream are transition albums between the psychedelic and the prog.

They still have lots of psych stuff on IA and Deadwing.

Yeah they have their moments but I think they lean more towards prog.

@itwasthatwas they're literally just some random words he put together, I think it's fine

@LunaticSoul Got a link? I'm interested in reading it.
@Mongi Apart from their first, say, four albums, I don't see much psychedelic in their music. Of course they experiment with it at times, but that's a general part of progressive rock, thus I'd say they're just flirting with it. I see a great distance between their post Lightbulb Sun music and psychedelia.

@Tunaboy Almost forgot, they're not random words. The way I see it, what he's saying is that, the heroine's mistakes and deeds cannot be erased by any means, id est, hand. The random thing is panctuation, which he explains he liked because of its mysterious feeling.

Myth, it's in Italian. The guy is a pretty respected writer in the 'scene' though, but is he a bit of a SW hater. He liked both the Raven and Grace though
Well, the titletrack has pretty shitty lyrics. it reminds me for some reason of that awful new Floyd track, lol.
