"This one was decent"

...And yet you have L.D. 50 rated as a 5.

Anyhoo, I definitely enjoy the musicianship on quite a few tracks here; Nothing to Gein stands out, and Ryan Martinie's certainly a behemoth on bass.

"Elements of a genre and being part of its formation don't have to necessarily box you into that genre though, and half of the songs you mentioned are debatable. The line between alt-metal, industrial rock/metal, rap metal, etc. and nu metal can be blurred as hell, so I see your point there, but that's exactly why there's so much debate surrounding the genre. The quality of the bands isn't the base of my argument though (I don't even like SOAD), it's that Deftones post-Around the Fur have more in common with Siamese Dream-era Smashing Pumpkins and A Perfect Circle than Sevendust or Nothingface or Snot or any of the other slightly more "hipster-approved", consensually nu-metal bands. In SOAD's case, you can just kind of hear the difference, it's a bit harder to explain for me at least."

Wow what a ho

I still don't see Deftones as a nu metal band, it always seemed like they were doing their own thing and they just happened to get swept up with the scene. Around The Fur is their most nu metal probably but everything after that falls more into the alt metal genre for me.

ATF is definitely NU-metal, but WP still has large influences to NU-metal.
