It's a pretty album that sounds better when Franzen is contributing his vocals in the background. Tracks like Reborn and The Spectacular Quiet would have benefited from some added vocal power to add some extra depth.

this isnt bad when listened to once a year i think. all of his stuff sounds the same so its way too easy to overdo it. theres a reason his stuff is popular though. he has a sound that works well to compliment the beauty of the autumn evening air. you just have to take your critics hat off and focus on the moment around you rather than on the music itself. its music that serves as a soundtrack to other things, not as standalone.
this is how i feel about it anyway. i cant defend it too well from a critic's standpoint given how contrived it all is.

I think every album is better than the last one. I can listen to a greater percentage of each successive album before getting bored with it. The newest one I like all the way through. This one I pretty much like all of.
