thats good and all but
I'm stuck inside the future and life is chaotic
The government is psychotically racist and robotic
The matrix of entrapment is socio-economic
Erotic conspiracy theory becomes reality
Life is war, and every day's a battle to me
I'm on the brink of insanity, between extreme intelligence and split personalities
But I elevate to the point of reversing gravity
Revolutionary conceptuality spitting out of me
Even the dead people in my family tell me they proud of me

It's funny cos you have the album rated lower than him

um ok but Nas is rhyming less syllables than Tech, and rhyming about self-discovery is more
narcissistic than rhyming about the government. Plus you just picked one single line and called it
generic, after you just posted a 16 bar quote that is like half about 'getting money'...beat it
buster.

this review would make a lot more sense if you didn't give Illmatic a perfect score, it's really hard for me to wrap my head around the idea an album one would consider a 5/5 could be overrated

Elmatic is pretty much better than this

solid review, better than people are saying. it could do with a bit less comparison, and it definitely comes across as a lot lower than a 5. (it's not like you say the album is awful, just that you talk a lot about how it's not -that- good for how short your review is.) but well-written, good points, etc. out of curiosity what would be your rating if you could do 4.6, 4.7, etc

thats the wrongest thing ive ever heard nas' flow on this album is second to none
and if you're going off what was written instead of whats said then youre doing it wrong.

agreed, hiphop is all about the flow and the way nas spits on this album is like nothing was even written down, sounds like he just went to the studio and did it on the spot.

I only picked up this album because World Is Yours was one of my favorite tracks from Tony Hawk's Underground.

Lambs, you prefer It Was Written to this?
I mean it has some good tracks but this eats it.

@VaxXi, then your in for a treat.
I can't believe the dude was like 17 when he did this. I mean the way he spits it, everything is so vivid. That's one of the reasons I like it so much, 'NY State of Mind' is just crazy for me.

If anything I find 36 Chambers to be an "overrated classic". Never dug it nearly as much as this, Ready to Die, The Infamous, Liquid Swords or other 90s classics.

i sort of agree with that, 36 chambers always felt like a compilation of singles moreso than a fully realized album
liquid swords is still the best wu tang lp

deck always had my favorite flow of the bunch, wish he had done a killer solo album

Never was a fan of 36 Chambers nor Ready To Die to be honest, neither are bad albums but they were never my cup of tea.
I do think Pharaohe Monch's debut album was pretty killer though.
