I just picked up my copy, and I must say, this has to be the most impressive album cover/artwork ever.

i am officially broke, i spent the emergency 15 bucks i had in my car today to bu this album, but it was worth it so its all good.
i am impressed, to me the sound is like a mixture of aenema and lateralus. i wasnt exactly sure how tool could top lateralus, i figured theyed keep the same sound, but they managed it, and i enjoyed it. i remember buying every tool album after opiate and i definetly agree that it does take some time to get used to each album.

Anyone else tired of reading reviews about Tool's new CD from diehard Tool fans?
The album is good, but it could have been 45min of fart noises with Tool plastered on it and it would still get a 5.0 from them.
Don't get me wrong here the band is great, I'm just waggin my finger at those who obsess about these guys.

A bit dissapointed. Nothing compared to the rushes of Lateralus, Maynards voise takes a back seat and the guitar work is nothing new. Not a fan of Vicarious either, it seems really commercial and uninspired.
All that said, it's still tool.
By the way I really don't think The Pot has much to do with stoners...more like another anti-bush song. Not like there can ever be enough of those.

I have listened to this album...not as much as I have should have...so, I'll come back to this thread when I have fully absorbed it.
I must say, Vicarious and Jambi are probably 2 of the best tracks I have heard from ANY band on ANY album since Lateralus and that is saying something. I think this album hasn't sunk in yet, but still...some parts in the album, especially about 3:50 into Vicarious (the breakdown) and the main riffage from Jambi (those are the tracks I have absorbed...kinda, so far...bear with me) are truly breathtaking. The shit that Carey pulls off on this album is just mindblowing...
I haven't decided what this will be. I can definately see where people say its Lateralus II (Really, how can you top the greatest album of all time?? You just cant ), I somewhat agree...but they are pulling off stuff, at least rhythumically that I haven't heard from them yet.
The changes from Lateralus to 10,000 is subtle...but still pretty substantial. I dont think anyone can really label this album a dud or even a 5 yet...you have to let it sink in...IMOThis Message Edited On 05.03.06This Message Edited On 05.03.06

It could have been better, however, i think this is the type of sound we'll be hearing from them on their thier fourth coming albums. the muscianship is very good though. i'd reccomend this.

To SoWhat! It's Tool so of course there's going to be swearing in it, but there's no parental advisory sticker on the album.
I personally didn't like the cover art of this album; the face just ain't working for me, and when I first picked it up yesterday and saw the eye-glasses I just went "what the ****?" However, I love how they used those with the album to make all the pictures 3D. The artwork itself isn't going to top Lateralus (but honestly, what other album does top that?) but it is yet another innovative tool from the world of Tool.
For the music itself, my favorite song right now is Rosetta Stoned but I haven't had enough time to absorb this album (studying for finals and everything) and I passed on the pirated version besides Vicarious because I felt like I owed it to them. This album is a nice mix between Lateralus (obvious similiar riffs used, the part in Vicarious IS different than Schism though) and Aenima (the use of polyrhythms between the band, and Adam using one time measure with his fret hand and another with his picking hand). Right now I'd probably put this album at #3, but once I give it a proper listen I'll adjust my opinion accordingly.

This album is pathetic. If you have not bought it, do not waste your money. 5 years for this crap? Give me a break!

The stereoscopic lenses are the coolest thing ever!

i'd rank this the third best tool album (Lateralus being #1, and Aenima being #2). still, it's tool. enough said. the packaging alone is worth the money, i love what they did with it. the first 10 minutes i had this open i was just looking at the artwork through those cool glasses that came attached to the package. i know the next tool album will blow us away, we just gotta wait for a WHILE until it happens. i need to learn the bassline for The Pot!

As do I. It's too catchy for its own good. :thumb:
I'd also like to learn all of "Vicarious", as it is now one of my favorite Tool songs.

You gave Intention 7 out of 10? It deserves a 10 i feel.
Intention and Right In Two must be the best Tool combo ever released... seriously.
Jambi is now one of my favourite Tool songs, its mad. The Pot is wicked, also a mass track.

eh, I'm bored of it already. I didn't really have any expectations for this album either, it just sounds very uninspired and ... typical. Justin and Danny are completely awesome on this album, but that's about it. The guitar riffs/tone are annoying because they sound so generic. This Message Edited On 05.05.06

Well Tool have made some tracks that may as well be "fart Noises" but there not overated or anything , all the albums theyve produced including this one deserve 5.0

NuMetalMania, I gave Intension a 7 because I didn't think it was as captivating as the other tracks.
By the way, I just noticed on Jambi at 6:37, when Adam does the riff. Does it sound like the riff from Undertow's Intolerance?
