"jusswondering, did this really deserve all the negs?"

Yea it isn't a very good review. It is really vague and feels too short just not because of conciseness but rather a lack of knowing what to talk about.

What this review says:
- somewhere between siberia and the listening ( but how? what elements are from each? the only thing you mentioned is lyrics, what aspects are new? How do these aspects mesh together?)

- you like her voice

- the songs are bubblegum pop anthems (ok and how does this justify your rating? Everything you have said in this review could literally be applied to a one direction album and have the same score. Surely they must be incredibly moving to justify a 4.5, what makes them succeed?)

I'm not going to neg or pos this, but here's some feedback:

1. This review is pretty short. That's not always a bad thing, but if it's going to be short then it needs to be to-the-point. With that being said, the first paragraph could easily be summarized into something like "Canadian electro-pop artist Lights first emerged in 2008 and has since two albums and (however many) EP's. Now,she's back with a third LP that combines the (insert elements here) of _______ and the (insert other elements) of _______." After that, describe how this album sounds and what it's like. Talking about maturation is good, but remember that you're writing a review for Little Machines, not Siberia or any of her other albums. Stick to the point unless you're making detailed comparison, what she's improved in, etc.

2. Don't wait until the last sentence to bring up any flaws. A conclusion should be there to summarize your final thoughts about the album and it shouldn't really bring up any new points that could be elaborated on further.

3. Lines like "It's hard to describe but it just makes me smile" should never be included in reviews. Either try to describe it or leave that part out and replace lines like "it just makes me smile" with "it works really effectively". It sounds way more professional and not so cheesy.

Hope this helps, there's definitely potential here.
