Epicloud was a 2012 album, otherwise spot-on review.

Fixed.

Sky Blue is kinda eh, same with Dark Matters. Not the best but def underwhelming.

devin told us in person at his guitar clinic that sky blue is pretty shitty.

Sky Blue is like what Epicloud was supposed to be when I first envisioned it. He seemed to really like

Epicloud back in 2012. I'm guessing he's just not feeling Sky Blue as much because it was kind of an

obligation. I doubt he thinks it's a bad album though because he even has a soft spot for Physicist.

Then again Dev despises pretty much all of his work shortly after he finishes it.

I can't stop listening to Sky Blue. Fallout, Midnight Sun, A New Reign, Warrior, and Rain City are all awesome tracks

I really want to like this considering Devin is probably my favorite artist of all time. So far it's not

doing much for me though, the production is so noisy I can't even tell what I'm hearing half of the time.

The choir really takes away the humanity and vulnerability that Devin usually brings with his vocals too.

I can understand how it can work in certain sections, but having them follow every damn vocal line is just

too much for me.

I haven't listened to all of dark matters yet though so maybe that will make up for it.

I would recommend listening to Dark Matters in one go with the dialogue at least once. I started by hearing a few a random songs off of Dark Matters and wasn't very impressed, but when I finally decided to just let the whole thing play through start to finish it was a pretty rewarding experience. It's as goofy as one would expect, but he nailed it.

an album this long can never get a 4

pffff. If each album was a 4/5 more or less, the whole thing could be a 4 by default.

Gotta agree, it all kinda blends into one big fuzzy mess

Is the snare really loud, or is it just me?

On speakers it's sound quite loud in the mix but on headphones it sinks in better.

Speaking of production though, I'm hearing clipping going on in one or two of these tracks, might be my copy but as soon as the drums come in on midnight sun it clips.

At least not in Sky Blue's case.

Got this in the post today so and I prefer Dark Matters at this point. Though, even if the style is a bit too similar for comfort, I like that Sky Blue is bit more somber (and serious?) than Epicloud.
