Shit is great, but definitely not blues influenced. Lol. Just because they're a two-piece, doesn't mean they're the White Stripes. I mean, technically, all modern music spurs from the blues so... I guess it's true. More of a grungy sound I think. Great review though.

i mean this is a pretty solid if highly derivative rock record but i don't really see what the fuss is about for the most part

^ The raw energy, jefflebowski.
When softball artists like Lorde and Imagine Dragons are used as examples of "a great year for rock n' roll" (as they were last night at the VMA's) a band like this becomes necessary.

They were at Osheaga in Montreal this summer, maybe that will help them here in Canada

"It’s rather amazing how musical duos can produce a sound similar to one of a full, four-person band. Even though they may lack the manpower compared to a traditional rock outfit setup, it’s hard to tell that only two people are leading the way. That’s the story behind Royal Blood, a two-man garage and blues-influenced rock band from Brighton, England. Consisting of vocalist and bassist Mike Kerr and drummer Ben Thatcher, the British duo may only consist of two people, but it’d be extremely difficult to realize that just by listening to them. After releasing the promising Out of the Black EP earlier this year, the release of their first full-length record was something that I was looking forward to, given the potential they showed with the songs they already released."
Not really sure why two men doing this is so amazing. It's not really that uncommon a thing nowadays given how easily it has become to write/record music.

The point I'm trying to get with that is that I didn't know they were only a duo when I first heard it, it sounded just like a full band

Point was, Green, this whole duo band thing really isn't that special. I don't quite understand why that's such a big selling point
