Its full on prog with bits of metal poking its head every now and then. If you hate that your going to hate this

The consensus seems to be that it's better than Heritage so that's a good sign!

Goblin sounds like a John Carpenter song written for a John Carpenter movie.

Nah I'm cool with that. I enjoyed Heritage as a background listen although I wasn't immersed in it compared to their other work.

imo I like heritage a bit better, but if you like prog-peth you will enjoy this. If you don't like that, I'd skip it

tbh they should've just used the roundhouse tapes cover for this album and call it a day, that artwork deserves to be used for a full-length

or was that a piece made for still life or smth?

Ugh well that sucks, sounds like this is going to be a 2.5 or a 3 then since I was pretty indifferent to Heritage

tbh I feel Mikael's vocals are the weak link on this. His cleans are great but he just over sings them to the point where its just unenjoyable

"this band has no future, they've been in a dead end since BWP. to say that they've overstayed their welcome would be an understatement of the century"

bwp is entry-level opeth. morningrise, my arms, still life, ghost reveries - all way better

I've said it once and I'll say it a thousand more times, If you actually listen to this you will notice that the two albums have completely different atmospheres. Heritage never clicked with me, but I have been enjoying Pale Communion a lot.

Anyone who dismisses this album because they did not like Heritage is a fool.

I haven't listened to this but I have a hard time picturing Mike's cleans as a weak link; he's quite a great singer imoimo

Give it a listen, Mikael's vocals are great don't get me wrong, but the man is fucking overdoing it to oblivion on here
