answer lies within is the worst of them all, such a cheesy and pointless snoozefest

I'd say Disappear is worse. I can't stand that song because it's so boring

Are you kidding that's top 3 00's DT ballads with Vacant and Repentance. Would Solitary Shell be considered a ballad?

It starts off pretty well, but then it drags forever and ever and I just don't like it at all

"Dream Theater never had to bother with the latter, since their sound is constantly changing"
Are you taking the piss? I suppose it's a fairly accurate statement up until this point in their career, but all their Rudess albums sound annoyingly similar.
Good review and great album; Stream of Consciousness is one of the very few DT songs I still listen to and I enjoy the rest (apart from the unforgivably bad outro solos in This Dying Soul)

And woah there, who just slammed Disappear? That is one of DT's most heartfelt and genuinely experimental songs; an underrated masterpiece.

As I Am has some of Labrie's worst vox ever.

I respect it for what it is, which as you said was a genuinely experimental song for them, but it just doesn't come off as anything great to me

It's an even worse ripoff of Metallica than Constant Motion. Song is saved by the amazing guitar and drum solos though

"I suppose it's a fairly accurate statement up until this point in their career, but all their Rudess albums sound annoyingly similar."
I disagree completely. The only album I might say sure to that is "Black Clouds & Silver Linings," but more on that when I get to reviewing it.

I never really liked this one, tried many times and thought I'd dig it because I love some of their stuff, but this just felt so 'meh'

Used to listen to it occasionally but it wore off. No noteworthy substance on here...
