I don't know why everyone is hating on Chelsea Grin, they're a very original and influential band i mean they started the genre Marge Simpson-core. And those lows are just so brutal. And don't get me started about that insane pit.

The best song on here is an instrumental.
15 songs is way too much god damn boring deathcore for one sitting.
Let me also reiterate:
"I stare from my window looking outside
Sometimes i wanna just die"
production is pretty terrible on this
alex's worst vocals to date
Those staccato fucking breakdowns are so annoying too
Band has completely gone to shit even thought most would say they already were.

i cant believe they use so many guitars just for chugging

They need to kick Alex out of the band, find a better vocalist (hell move the drummer to vocals if need be there are a million deathcore drummers on youtube) and finally give Richardson full control of guitar writing for the future. THEN they might make a decent album.

I hate this band but I agree.
Unwillingly had to see them live and their vocalist was very bad.

Band has completely gone to shit
Band couldn't get any worse. I thought this was a step in the right direction.

I thought this band has taken many "steps in the right direction" in their career
but they've taken steps in like 3 different directions now and we end up with.... this album

I mean he's not cranking out anything super complex on the regular but I'd say he's a talented guitarist in a band afraid to use him to his full-potential.
I really hate those choppy ass breakdowns he brings to his bands though. It just sounds like they're playing a regular breakdown at like 3x speed. Those are good to switch it up every now and then but this album probably has like 15 of them

Lets cut the bullshit, band has always been awful and the vocalist is the worst 'deathcore' vocalist I have ever heard.

Come cool instrumentation at least, even though it just feels ripped off from Born of Osiris's discovery

"it just feels ripped off from Born of Osiris's discovery"
considering their guitarist is in this band now ye maybe but this has about 10x more chugs

Yeah he turns every band he joins into his solo project

"Yeah he turns every band he joins into his solo project"
except not here because he's mostly mindlessly chugging along with the other two guitars (lol) except for the occasional noodle here and there

I don't think Alex is a very bad studio vocalist at all to be honest
|
| |
Jason Richardson is far too talented to be in this band.

Who in their right mind thinks that this many breakdowns is ever a good idea? Especially when they essentially take every track into a hard right-turn to nowhere, and only function to add another minute to runtime. Are they not able to write 4-minute songs on their own without fluffing them up with breakdowns?
|
| |
Yeah they ruin a lot of these tracks with the obnoxious breakdowns. I liked waste away, but they kill lots of momentum with the slow "heavy" breakdowns
