Nah tremolo picking is the name of the technique so that's no problem. But like you said the physic of doing a trem picked pinch pretty much inhuman. I listened to the end of The Indiscriminate like you said and it sounded like someone pulling back on a whammy bar or doing a slide, with some effects added (while trem picking)

As long as you don't pull the bar too far back you can
still pick can't you? (neither of my guitars actually has
one so I haven't experimented with it much)

Like I said it could also be a slide
