is it an educational thing or like how electricians and plumbers go from journeyman to masters?
Yeah it's an educational thing to encourage skilled labour in the country. When I started an apprenticeship in commercial cookery (i.e. to become a qualified chef) was three years, I just finished that, nailed my tests at "chef school" (Aust. it's called TAFE) you have to develop a menu and function control point (the things you need to do to be able to run a kitchen). The next step from chef de partie (what I am now) is a sous chef.

hmmm....interesting. I forgot you lived in Aussytrailia. CIA is the culinary institute of America. I'm probably just ignorant but I was under the impression that you just gained the title through getting hired as one. Maybe its different here. Either way congrats I know sous chef is a pretty big deal.

You're more or less an apprentice here until you're not.

The album art for the vinyl is incredible. Skinner's art is insanely good.

Last 15 minutes are easily the best part of the album. If only they weren't preceded by that terrible ending to Aunt Lisa...

First time through...wtf?
Third time through...Holy Sh!t, they did it again!
The end of Aunt Lisa is definite WTF moment, but god damn, it stays with you.
The best moment of the album is the last 3:44 of Diamond in the Witch House.

I'm not sure why others are struggling with these tracks?

I kinda like the last half of the album more, from Asleep in the Deep 'till Halloween. Diamond in the
Witch House is a classic Mastodon track but it's too slow for me, too repetitive and struggling. I
would prefer it with more melodic changes.
What I can't understand is why people want Mastodon to reinvent the wheel with every album. C'mon, Led
Zeppelin didn't do something more than just composing exquisite songs. No reinvention, not much
innovation. Were they good? They were excellent. Now, Mastodon have already put so many new things in
music and when they offer us just awesome music, we are not satisfied....

I have yet to jam this but if this isn't better than the Hunter (which everyone seems to agree that it is better) then I am going to cry
