I don't really ever listen to 21 Guns of my own choosing, but there isn't a lot I find overtly fucking terrible about it. Know Your Enemy on the other hand is one of the laziest goddamn songs ever written.

American Eulogy, Restless Heart Syndrome, and 21st CB are great songs.

Why should song concept carry over through albums? You also must realize that on AI the entire story was from the perspective of a split personality teenager who was raised like shit. So the opinions of that character would be different than those of Billie Joe Armstrong/ whatever perspective this is written from. And what's wrong with the structure? It's nothing unconventional but it gets the job done. Also the length doesn't bother me (probably because my iPod is mostly made up of songs 6 minutes and up so I'm used to it).

Tre is their best album since American Idiot.

21st Century Breakdown is basically Baba O'Riley and a damn good one at that.

Song concept shouldn't carry over through albums actually. But that's the biggest problem. This is Green Day trying to make American Idiot again, the album directly after it, and falling almost laughably short.

Can't someone have different perspectives on one topic? An artist can write from multiple perspectives on the same topic, they might even believe both sides can be right. Also it's been many years between AI and this album, his view of the world can change drastically.

What I hate about this album is that it doesn't sound as powerful as American Idiot. AI is heavy as dicks, this is purposely epic with a bad effect.

Also now that I think about it, if this is a song against war and settling differences wouldn't that be the EXACT same this he was protesting on AI? With Wake Me Up When September Ends?

But going back to your previous comment about his vocals being overproduced, he sounds exactly the same live, that is no difference in sound other than the chorus is more powerful.

It's actually 5 AI came out in 2004, while 21 CB came out in 2009.

Not sure what's the point in making this correction since I'm on your side BTW what would you rate this?
