you should rate albums off how much you enjoyed them, not by historical significance. who cares when it was made and how groundbreaking it was. I use The Wall as my prime example; People rave about that album and I happen to think its garbage to a good extent

I dont rate albums based on historical significance. Its just one small thing that I factor into the evaluation process. If your ridiculous claim was my actual methodology I wouldn't have any modern albums positively rated. lol

When a band pioneers a sound I dig, I tend to think thats pretty fucking cool. Even if its not an album I would consider a favourite of mine, I still give props for something like that.
