The hype is real

Really feel like the "horror" was over hyped, this is nowhere near dissonant or haunting enough to warrant a Lovecraftian label.

I suppose it's a matter of perspective, then. Were you paying attention to the lyrics? There's plenty
of unhappy / morbid shenanigans going on there, and 99% of Death Room sounds disturbed on some level.
Many of Ohme's vocal melodies were "haunting" to me, ex: "He ran to ride" in Death Room, and "He is
real if you believe in him" in The Wizard of Altai Mountains. In other words, I'll respectfully disagree.

It just doesn't seem that way to me, I mean it's solid but I wouldn't have called it anything more than haunting (in a beautiful sense); as a non Gazpacho fan/first time listener perhaps I'm missing out on why this is special though.
Lovecraft tag equals more of a Lustmord sound from me, something absolutely immense and at times ethereal; The Place Where the Black Stars Hang is what comes to mind most of the time.

Give it some more listens man.
Tbh I'd have used a word more like 'eeire' or 'haunting' than 'horror' cuz it's quite subtle, so I get what you mean

I can definitely see why you'd apply Lovecraft to Lustmord, and will agree with that attribution. Good call. It sounds to me like you and I just perceive the record differently. When I hear that chaotic intro to Death Room give way to the mournful balalaika, it's incredibly creepy. And what was Lovecraft if not creepy? I get that feeling pretty much through that entire track, and from a huge portion of the lyrics. I also feel that eerie vibe from the other songs as well, even if they are eerie and beautiful at the same time.

On further reflection, I'm beginning to agree, so I decided to change some of the language in the
third and final paragraph. Thoughts?

Haha, no worries. I merely changed a few sentences. I thought about it some more and feel this is a
more accurate representation of the album. I'd like to think every writer's goal is to improve their
work. That's certainly mine, anyway, and I'm just glad you pointed it out, because I think you helped
me do that with this review.
