i was just commenting on the hypocrisy that is your soundoff but yeah i cant say i really was listening to the lyrics at all, was studying, made decent background sounds, guitar was pleasant and inoffensive, did not hate, will never listen again, have no qualms

That soundoff is just a stupid joke and not meant to be taken seriously and has nothing to do with the band's actual sound and I posted it two months ago yeah

Another excellent review, Chan. Still hasn't made up my mind about this, but I like it more than Wildlife so far, I think

"People who grow up in small towns or any other sort of close-knit community have to deal every day with the weight of reputation. "
oh you are so goddamn right

.. and I thought living in rural/small town areas here sucked. At least people mind their own business.

listened twice, still can't get into it. couple decent tracks though

I actually prefer Somewhere over all their other material (I love it all though), and it certainly hasn't got them a bad reputation, I can't wait to hear this.

Some songs on here are pretty good, others are just awful.

Jordan's vocals in the first few moments of this album are so unintentionally hilarious

I'm still digesting this one, not sure what I think.
I think the review is well written, but I disagree with your opinion on Somewhere... If you want lyrical content based on love that is truly shallow, my guess is you can find that on any of the pop/country/etc. stations on your local radio. Having gone through my own divorce, Jordan nails the emotion of separation and all the bad things that happen in-between the start and end of a marriage. Anyone's connection to the lyrical content on Somewhere..., I think, is probably heavily tied to life experience. You may have gone through the same stuff and still hold that opinion (on Somewhere...), which is fine, I just think that every word Jordan has ever sung, spoken or screamed has been pretty far away from shallow because it sure feels like he genuinely feels, understands and is sincere about whatever his topic is. Divorce, stories he heard second hand or whatever fiction is part of his lyrics.

That wasn't a knock on anyone personally or me saying "Go listen to top 40 radio you stupid reviewer"... Just sayin' that's where I believe shallow music to lie, not that it can't be found elsewhere.
