You should check out Phanerothyme, that's another big change in their discography.

Great band, they should be huge, but I love that they aren't....

i agree, if some of their more commercial alt rock songs had been done instead by fashionable bands they'd have been massive hits, im glad they went more experimental though

One of the great bands that doesn't fit easily into one genre, that the Sputnik community uncovers for one another...it's metal, it's stoner rock, it's prog, it's rock, it's folk, it's pop, it's psyche...it's not sometimes, and something else..it's what all the great bands from the Classic era did. Nothing better then the feeling of self-discovery from others of a great band...

I really don't feel that Motorpsycho is a stoner rock kind of band, but yeah, it's hard to pinpoint a genre for them

Yeah I don't really get the stoner rock in Motorpsycho.
Dat shredding in Hell pt. 7 tho
|
| |
Mad. I think Psychonaut off of Trust Us is a Stoner Rock classic. Josh Homme could have written this.
|
| |
Some of there stuff reminds me of Hawkwind too, instrumentally. Hawkwind has been called blanga and psychedelic rock and acid rock, but songs like Motorhead are definitely stoner rock precursors...

they more strike me as psychedelic prog though
|
| |
I do agree that they aren't in the Stoner vein that Sleep and Kylesa, High on Fire are in...the Sabbath Planet Caravan wing...but The Sir Lord Baltimore/ Queens of the Stone Age wing....SPED Music is diverse....there is the Doomy thread and then the more heady psychedelic stuff.....the Sativa and the Indica...if you will....
