So, here is my take on it . . . Before The Wall Pink Floyd albums were always recordings first, performance second. They created brilliant records and then made amazing visual interpretations of them live in concert . . . But on The Wall they reversed it. They created a brilliant live performance first and then edited that performance onto an album. I think The Wall is like the soundtrack to a play. It is only half there without the performance, so the album is “lacking something” and has a lot of “filler” . . . but with the performance it was brilliant.

thanks all of you guys for the positive feedback! and twig I totally agree, I really think treating this album like a play (which is one of the reasons I reviewed it as such) adds to the authenticity of the record and somewhat boosts its enjoyment to think of it like that.

good job trying to be creative with the review, just coupla small things i noticed at the start
"record so colossus that it will manage to overshadow all of their other albums, leaving a mark so grandeur"
colossal and grandiose maybe the right words ?

Great review, but this is my favorite album ever. Pos'd

@menawati, colossus is an actual noun that is huge, so it's describing the album and grandeur and grandiose are synonymous so either works in this case

If this was actually written back in 1979 then it would be really sth for historical reasons. In 2014, after "Another brick in the wall" became a landmark for a whole generation, it's a bit awkward to rate "The wall" with a 3/5. This rating only depicts personal tastes and not the objective value of this release. I won't vote against though, i don't want to ruin your score, because you seem to be interested in that. Cheers

vote how you want man I don't mind haha and no, im rating musicianship, not influence. you don't listen to influence on
an album, you listen to the music, which is exactly what and how I rated

music's subjective. ratings and opinions arent undisputed. just because you have it as a 5 doesn't mean everyone has to, and just cuz I don't necessarily like it doesn't mean everyone can't like it either.

thanks Judio! and yeah that bass work is killer. the more and more I listen to this album the more and more inclined to believe it has Gilmour's best guitar work
