the new one had the emo hype and they're on an actual label now

Honestly, given a shit ton of time to sit on them I'd say they're right on per with equal. I mean,
they were practically released by two different bands but the quality of the music is almost the same. And yeah, this one has some nostalgia for me as well. I stumbled on this album before the name change or their second album was released so it meant a lot as my introduction to them.

I can't help but wonder if the title to this album is in reference to the Smiths song
|

^ Well, the final track is called "Title Track (There is a Light)," so I think so

Good review, great record, but since when are State Lines giants in the pop punk scene?

This album's cool, not better than their second outting.

just now checking this out for the first time
way pop punkier than I imagined it'd be, though I'm not sure why I thought otherwise
pretty good for what it is though

Man I love this album. They tick off some cliche pop punk boxes but everything feels so fucking genuine idc

They tick off some cliche pop punk boxes but everything feels so fucking genuine [2] for sure. Its your standard pop punk, just more poetic and mature and well thought out. And of course, as passionate as they come

This is criminally underrated. I never even bothered listening to this album after falling in love with the 2 that came after. Finally got around to visiting it and its just as good!

Hell yeah. Better than goodness imho

Really?? I think this is all right, but would definitely rate Goodness over this. Maybe I should give this another listen though.

I really don't like this record. Though both album arts were cool.

Goodness never stuck with me as deeply, sadly. It had all of the elements but just didn't. There are stellar tracks, of course. And it made more sense in the way it flowed as an album, but their first two are absolute gems in my opinion and I have pretty hopeful eyes for the future as well.

I really really wish they would play atleast one song off this at their live shows
